Ballots in the box, except as hereinbefore prohibited, in the pres-
ence of such of the delegates balloted for as may chose to attend;
and shall carefully take out said ballots and read distinctly^ and
aloud the names written or printed thereon, and shall, so far as
practicable, see that the said clerks shall properly enter and tally the
same; and when said ballots are read off and counted, and tallied
on said tally sheets, the said judges shall take said sheets and
ascertain the number of said votes for each person for delegates,
and the five persons in each district receiving the highest number
of said votes or ballots for delegates, shall be those duly elected
as such. Said judges shall enter on said tally sheets a certificate,
to be signed by them, setting forth the name of each party
balloted for as delegates, and the number of ballots each received;
and they shall deliver to each of the delegates elected a certifi-
cate, signed by them and witnessed by said clerks, setting forth
the names of the delegates duly elected, and the fact of their
election, and any one of said certificates shall be received as
credentials of the delegates elected; and said judges in each
district shall deliver the copy of the registration list, the list
of names of voters received, the tally sheets and ballots counted,
to one of their number, who shall safely keep the same until
after the close of the convention to which said delegates are
elected, unless he receives notice of some contest arising out of
said election, whereupon all of the same shall be returned to said
convention for the use of said convention, or any person connected
with said contest; and after said convention shall have adjourned
all of the same can be destroyed, except copies of registration list,
which shall be returned to said central committee for said county.

156. Whoever shall offer any money, fee or reward, directly or
indirectly, to any elector, to influence his vote at any election held
under the provisions of this sub-title of this article, relating to
primary elections, and any elector who shall accept any money, fee
or reward for his vote at any such election, shall be fined not more
than two hundred nor less than fifty dollars, or imprisoned in the
house of correction or the jail of Queen Anne's county not more
than six months nor less than one month, and shall be disqualified
from thereafter voting at any such election; and whoever, by
