152. Said judges of election shall have power to examine,
under oath, to be administered by any one of them, any person
offering to vote at any such election, touching his qualifications
and right to vote; but before such examination, it shall be their
duty to take from him the ballot which he shall tender; and in case
of the rejection of said ballot they shall not put said ballot in the
ballot-box, but preserve it and all other rejected ballots and return
them with the names of the persons offering them, and the cause
of rejection endorsed on the back thereof, or destroy the same as
herein required of the counted ballots.

153. Every voter shall deliver to the judges of election of the
election district in which he offers to vote a ballot, on which shall
be written or printed the names of not more than five persons as
delegates, who shall be members of the political association or
party holding such election, and residents of the district wherein
they are voted for; and the ballots so delivered to and received
by said judges shall be deposited in the ballot-box provided by
them, until the poll is closed; and if, upon opening any of said
ballots there be found any more than five names for delegates
written or printed thereon, or if any two or more of such ballots
be deceitfully folded together, such ballots shall be rejected and
not counted.

154. The clerks of said election in each district shall keep a
list of the names of all persons casting a vote at said election, and
deliver same, signed by themselves, to the judges, at the close of
the polls; and each of said clerks shall carefully and accurately
enter and keep on a tally sheet the names written or printed on
each ballot as read aloud therefrom by said judges, or one of
them, so that the number of votes for each candidate entered and
tallied thereon may be readily cast up and known; and these
tally sheets, when the ballots are all read and entered, shall at
once be handed to said judges of election.
