1286 GARRETT COUNTY. [ART. 12.

1888, ch. 548.

206. All labor employed upon said road by said superinten-
dents shall be paid at the rate allowed by road supervisors on
other county roads in said county.

SCHOOLS.

1878, ch. 345.

207. The treasurer of the State, upon the warrant of the
comptroller^ shall pay annually on the first Monday of July, to
the board of school commissioners for Garrett county, the sum
of twelve hundred dollars, to be applied to the public school fund
of said county; said sum shall be applied by them to the support
of the Grantsville and Oakland schools in equal amounts; and
said Grantsville and Oakland schools shall be taken and con-
sidered as high schools, and open to pupils from any part of the
county; provided, that whenever the board of school commis-
sioners shall establish a high school, such as is provided for in
article 77 of the public general laws, title " Public Education,"
then said twelve hundred dollars shall be applied to the main
tenance of such high school.

1884, ch. 397.

208. The sum of one hundred dollars, on the warrant of the
comptroller, shall be paid to the president of the board of trustees;
of the Baltimore Female College, on the first day of April in
every year, in consideration of which the trustees shall give
tuition, with the use of text-books, without charge, to one pupil
from Garrett county, selected by the orphans' court of said
county, as in other counties of the State.

1884, ch. 168.

209. The board of county school commissioners of Garrett
county shall not expend for school purposes, or for any other
purpose, a greater sum of money in any one year than shall have
been levied by the county commissioners for the same year, in
addition to the sum annually received by the board of county
school commissioners from the treasurer of the State; and they
are absolutely prohibited from borrowing from any source what-
ever, or for any purpose, any sum of money which shall be in
excess of the moneys which they shall be entitled to receive from
