seventy-five yards apart; provided, that there shall be at least
one lamp at each end of the draw of said bridge; and the said
lamps shall be attended to, cleaned, lighted at night and ex-
tinguished in the morning by the keeper of said bridge.

97. The bridge over the Patapsco river, upon the Hammond's
ferry road, between Baltimore county and Anne Arundel county,
where the old Donaldson's bridge formerly stood, shall be main-
tained as a free bridge, at the equal charge of said counties.

98. Upon the completion of the bridge across the Severn river,
authorized to be built by the acts of 1876, chapter 165, and 1884,
chapter 476, the county commissioners shall keep the same as a
free bridge.

99. The county commissioners are authorized to erect and
maintain, at or near the end of said bridge, a house for the bridge-
keeper, and are directed to appoint, annually, some competent
and reliable person to act as bridge-keeper who shall be always
on the spot, in person or by deputy, to give free passage, by
raising or removing the draw, to all such vessels or steamers as
may approach said bridge for the purpose of passing through the
same; the said keeper shall give bond to the said county commis-
sioners with good and sufficient security, to be approved by them,
in the penal sum of one thousand dollars, conditioned for the
faithful and efficient discharge of his duties, and shall receive
for his services such compensation as said county commissioners
shall think just and proper.

100. There shall be appointed annually by the county com-
missioners, the first appointment to date from the time when the
bridge shall be completed and ready for use, some competent
person to act as bridge-keeper of the bridge over South river,
built under the provisions of the act of 1872, chapter 391, and
who shall be always on the spot when his duties may require his
presence; and it shall be his duty to give free passage, by raising
