of the year. Any one snaring or looping any pheasants or part-
ridges in said county shall be liable to a fine of ten dollars for
each pheasant or partridge so snared or looped, to be recovered
before any justice of the peace of said county in the name of the
State of Maryland, the one-half of which fine shall go to the
informer, and the balance to the school commissioners of Frederick
county; and in default of the payment of said fine, and the costs,
said offender shall be committed to the jail of Frederick county
for thirty days.

56. If any one who has been adjudged guilty by a justice of
the peace of a violation of any of the provisions of sections 45, 46,
47 or 55, feels himself aggrieved by said judgment he may appeal
therefrom, and have the same tried in the circuit court for Fred-
erick county, as other appeals from judgments of justices of the
peace are tried; and said court shall have power to impose the
penalties provided in section 48, but sentence shall not be stayed
oil said judgment unless a bond in the penalty of fifty dollars,
with good security, to prosecute said appeal, be given by the party
so convicted.

57. Every person who is an actual resident of said county shall
be entitled to an allowance from the county of thirty-five cents
for every hawk or large owl taken and killed by him within the
limits of said county.

58. The person killing any of the birds of prey mentioned in
the preceding section shall produce the head of the same before
some justice of the peace for said county, and make oath that the
said bird of prey was taken and killed within the limits of Fred-
erick county within six days then preceding; and the justice shall
thereupon give such person a certificate wherein he shall set forth
the said oath, for which he shall charge five cents as compensa-
tion in full thereon, and no more; and shall at the same time cut
off the beaks from the heads of said birds of prey, so as to prevent
a second allowance.

59. It shall not be lawful for any person to shoot or trap gray
