to be made, and upon neglect or refusal to pay the
amount so assessed and expended, the commissioners

manner as county taxes may be collected and recovered.

Sub-Sec. 9. The commissioners of said village are
authorized to procure a house for the incarceration of
all persons who may be committed thereto by the
proper authorities for the violation of any ordinance
of said corporation.

CLERK.
1870, c. 108 entitled an act to facilitate the examination of titles to lands in Prince
George's county, by authorizing the clerk of the circuit court for Prince George's
county to make out general indices to the land and chattel records, law and equity
dockets in his office, and provide for paying the same, enacts as follows:
1. That the clerk of the circuit court for Prince George's county is hereby author-
ized and required to make out, in a full and legible handwriting, general indices to
the land and chattel record in his office, commencing with the year eighteen hun-
dred and forty, and of the law dockets in his office, commencing with the docket of
April term, eighteen hundred and fifty-eight, and of the equity docket, commencing
from January first, eighteen hundred and fifty-two, to the passage of this act, and
shall be allowed therefor the same compensation as is now allowed for making al-
phabetical lists of transfers of property, to be paid for by the county commissioners
for Prince George's county on the certificate of the chief or one of the associate judges
of the seventh judicial circuit, that said work and labor has been properly performed.
2. That the county commissioners of Prince George's county are hereby directed
to pay the clerk of the circuit court of Prince George's county whatever sum or sums
of money may be found to be due him under the preceding section, upon the receipt
of the certificate provided for in the preceding section.
3. That from and after the passage of this act, it shall be the duty of said clerk to
enter in said general indices all conveyances, judgments and equity suits thereafter
recorded, rendered and docketed, for which service he shall be allowed the same
compensation as is now allowed for similar services, to be paid for by the grantee to
the conveyance, and parties to the suit respectively, as other costs are now paid.
