ALMSHOUSE.

By 1870, c. 423 the county commissioners of Montgomery county are authorized
and empowered to erect additional buildings at the almshouse of said county, suita-
ble for the proper care and comfort of insane paupers and negro paupers; and the
county commissioners of said county are authorized and empowered to levy upon
the assessable property of said county a cum or sums of money in their judgment
sufficient to carry into effect the provisions of this act

JAIL.

By 1870, c. 374 the county commissioners of Montgomery county are authorized
and empowered to repair the jail of said county and to do such other acts and things
as shall be necessary and proper to carry into effect the provisions of this lection;
and the county commissioners of said county are authorized and empowered to levy
upon the assessable property of said county a sum or sums of money sufficient in
their judgment to carry into effect the provisions of this act.

JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.

1870, c. 288 authorizes the governor to appoint an additional justice of the peace
for the fourth election district in Montgomery county.

ROCKVILLE.

1870, c. 170 repeals sections 55, 56, 67, 58, 60, 65 and 73 and enacts the following in

lieu thereof:

SEC. 55. The county commissioners for Montgomery
county shall, at their first meeting in the month of
May next, and annually thereafter, appoint three com-
missioners for Rockville, who shall be substantial citi-
zens, residents in said corporate limits for at least three
years next preceding their appointment, and continue
to reside therein during their continuance in office, to
serve for one year from the date of their appointment,
and until their successors are appointed and qualified,
and shall designate one of said number to be president
of said commissioners for Rockville during said term.
The said commissioners for Rockville shall receive no
compensation for their services except the president,
who shall receive the fees hereinafter allowed.
