1864, c. 339 enacts as follows :

423. The governor, by and with the advice and
consent of the senate, is hereby authorized to ap-
point an additional inspector of hay and straw for
the eastern section of the city of Baltimore.

424. The said inspector is hereby authorized un-
der the direction of the governor, to purchase a lot
of ground in the eastern part of the city, in that
portion thereof, east of Harris' creek, and south of
Wilk street, and to erect thereon, and to keep in
repair suitable hay scales or apparatus, for weigh-
ing hay brought to the city of Baltimore for sale.

425. The said inspector, as aforesaid, by virtue of
this act appointed in the execution of his said office,
shall conform to and be liable to all requirements,
duties and provisions required of the existing inspec-
tors, and enacted in reference thereto by any acts of
assembly, now in force in relation to the same.

426. The governor is hereby authorized to draw
on the treasurer, by the warrant of the comptroller
for a sum not exceeding two thousand dollars out of
any money in the treasury not otherwise appropri-
ated to carry into effect the provisions of this act.

1867, c. 381 repeals so touch of 1864, c. 384 as authorized the appointment of an assis-
tant to the inspector of the Western Hay Scales and adds the following:
427. Anthony Johnson, of Howard county, Ross
Winans, of Baltimore city, and Joseph Judick, of Bal-
timore city, are hereby appointed commissioners, and
as such are authorized and empowered to purchase
or lease and fit up in a suitable manner, a convenient
lot of ground for erecting scales for weighing hay
and straw ; and the scales and fixtures necessary for
that purpose, which shall not be situate south of the
Frederick turnpike, west of Mount street, north of
Pratt street and east of the junction of the Franklin
and Frederick turnpike roads. And upon the pur-
