or charges prescribed by the board of police com-
missioners, as aforesaid, printed on a white paper
card, with black ink, by types of a size not less
than long primer, so that the same may be con-
veniently seen, and read, in the day time by any
person who may be a passenger in said carriage.

1865, c. 90 also adds the following sections to be arranged after section 143 :

144. The proprietor of any hackney carriage in
the city of Baltimore who does not intend to go
upon or use the public stands in said city, with
such hackney carriages, shall at the time of apply-
ing for a license for the same as required by the
present, or any future ordinances of the mayor and
city council of Baltimore, signifying in writing such
intentions, and thereupon a special license may and
shall be granted to such proprietors, by the comp-
troller, or other proper officer of said city ; and for
every special license thus granted, there shall be paid
such sum as is now or shall hereafter become pay-
able for other hackney carriages by the present or
future ordinances of said city.

. 145. No hackney carriages which shall be thus
specially licensed shall make use of or go upon, or
stand or wait for employment at any of the public
stands designated by or under the present or any
future ordinances of the mayor and city council of
Baltimore, or at any other place or places in said
city, except the premises of the owner thereof, under
a penalty of twenty dollars for every such offence,
one-half to be paid to the informer, to be recovered
against either the owner or driver thereof, as fines
of a like amount are now recovered.
