100 WASHINGTON COUNTY. [ART. 21.

SHERIFF.

Chapter 153 repeals Section 292 and enacts the following as a substitute therefor:

8. The sheriff of said county shall be entitled to thirty-five
cents per day for keeping each prisoner that may be confined
in the jail of said county.

In force from February 19,1864, until the end of the next regular session of the
General Assembly.

WESTERN MARYLAND BAIL ROAD COMPANY.

Chapter 314 adds the following Sections tp this Article.

9. The County Commissioners of Washington county are
hereby authorized and empowered to endorse or guarantee, on
behalf of said county, the principal and interest upon the second
mortgage bonds of the Western Maryland Rail Road Company
to an amount not exceeding three hundred thousand dollars, in
such manner and form as they, the said County Commissioners,
may deem best, and at any time hereafter as they may deem
proper.

10. If it shall become necessary, at any time after said commis-
sioners shall have exercised the authority granted them by the
preceding section, to provide for the payment of the principal
and interest upon the bonds so endorsed, the said commissioners
shall provide for the same by levy upon the assessable property
in the said county.

In force from March 7,1864.

WILLIAMSPORT.

Chapter 80 enacts as follows:

11. The act of incorporation of the town of Williamsport,
in Washington county, Maryland, passed December session,
eighteen hundred and twenty-three, chapter one hundred and
twenty-five, with the several supplements thereto, is hereby re-
vived and made as effectual to all intents and purposes as if the
said act of incorporation had not expired.

12. The burgess and commissioners of said town have power
to include within said corporation the public grave yard at
Williamsport.
