Church on Kent Circuit, with full power and authority to contract for,
purchase and take title, by deed, to a quantity of wood and other land,
in Kent county, containing not more than ten acres, from Samuel E.
Baker, of said county, or from him and wife, together with such rights
of way and privileges of water, as they may be able to secure, and that
the said deed shall be to them and their successors forever, in trust to,
and for the use of the Methodist Episcopal Church, on Kent Circuit,
in holding and conducting Camp Meetings, Sunday School Meetings
or Festivals, or other Meetings, and for such purposes as may be con-
sidered useful or advantageous to the said Church, or any of the moral,
religious, literary, or other institutions of the said Church.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said trustees, or their successors
shall have power to sue and be sued in any of the courts in this State.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That in case of any vacancy in the said
board of trustees, it may be filled by the appointment of a successor or
successors by the remaining trustees, or if they neglect to fill such
vacancy, by any Quarterly Conference, on Kent Circuit, and the entry,
on the minutes, or proceedings of any Quarterly Conference of such
appointment, shall be evidence of the same in law and equity.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from its
passage.
MOUNT ZION CHURCH.
AN ACT to authorize the Council of Mount Zion Church in Washington county, to
dispose of certain real estate.
WHEREAS, a congregation of Christians known as German and English
Lutherans have for some time past had, and enjoyed certain real
estate situated in Washington county, Maryland, which they acquired
under and by virtue of the last will and testament of a certain
Thomas M. Hogg, and also by virtue of a certain contract with one
Zacharias Claggett, on which real estate at considerable cost have
erected a church, a school house and have laid off a place of burial;
and whereas, since said erection and improvements on said real
estate the persons so constituting said church have found it more con-
venient to erect another church at a different place in said county,
whereby the use of said original building is not required for religious
purposes and they being desirous of selling and disposing of so much
of the land on which the original church was erected, as may not be
required for the use of the school, and for this purpose have applied
for relief; and to effect this purpose.
