76 COLLECTORS, SHERIFFS, SECURITIES, &c.

as full authority to compel and force payment of the taxes due him as
collector aforesaid, as he had when he was first appointed and qualified;
provided, that he shall give at least thirty days notice to each of the
parties from whom taxes may be due him, before lie shall proceed to force
the payment of the same; and provided, that nothing herein contained
shall be construed to extend the time of payment over any money due
from said Duhamel, as collector of State and county taxes as aforesaid;
and provided further, that if required, he shall attach an affidavit,
made before a Justice of the Peace in said county, of the correctness
of the same, and that no part of said taxes claimed by him has been
collected.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
time of its passage.

JOSEPH M. EBBERTS.

AN ACT for the relief of Joseph M. Ebberts, late Sheriff of Frederick county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Joseph M. Ebberts, late sheriff of Frederick county, be and he is
hereby allowed further time, until the first day of February, eighteen
hundred and sixty-three, to collect all fines and forfeitures, and balances
of fines and forfeitures, now due to, and uncollected by him, and he is
hereby authorized and empowered to collect the same in the manner
provided by existing laws for the collection of fines and forfeitures,
provided, that nothing herein contained shall prevent or delay the en-
forcement of their rights and remedies by the Comptroller, county com-
missioners, or others interested, provided, the said sheriff shall make
affidavit to be filed with the execution in each ease that the fine or for-
feiture, in said execution specified, has not been paid to said sheriff.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

EDWARD HAMMOND.

AN ACT for the relief of Edward Hammond former Collector of the Second Collec-
tion District of Anne Arundel county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Edward Hammond, former Collector of the Second Collection
District of Anne Arundel county, and the sureties upon his official bond,
be and they are hereby released from the payment of the interest on the
State's claim against said Hammond; provided, the amount due the
State, for principal of said claim, shall be paid into the Treasury within
ten days from the passage of this act.

SEC. 2. And it be enacted, That this act shall take effect from its
passage.
