their care, charge and restraint, the foundlings and infant orphan chil-
dren committed to their keeping, until they shall be, if males, twenty-
one years old, if females, eighteen years old, or any shorter period, and
to bind them out for a time not to exceed said ages of twenty-one years
and eighteen years respectively, as apprentices to learn any trade or
business, or to learn to be useful in housewifery, or may, under terms
proper in the view of the said officers and board of Directors, and to
be by them stipulated, place them for adoption, or as inmates with any
families or persons; said Corporation, in the exercise of any of these
powers of binding or placing out, not being limited to places within,
this State, and all such acts, being required to be in writing, signed by
by the President of said Corporation, and by the persons taking the
children as apprentices, or as aforesaid, and by said signers acknow-
ledged before a Justice of the Peace for Baltimore city, and within one
month from the date of such writing, recorded in the office of the Regis-
ter of Wills of said city.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the foundlings and infant orphan
children under the care and charge aforesaid, shall be and remain under
the control and restraint, and in charge of said Corporation, 'and of the
officers and board of Directors thereof, and bound to obedience of their
rules, regulations and discipline, to every effect as apprentices are
bound in respect of their masters and mistresses, and subject to all laws
concerning the duties and liabilities, protection of apprentices.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

THOMAS WILDY LODGE, INDEPENDENT ORDER, or ODD FELLOWS.

AN ACT to change the name of Fell's Point Lodge, Number Forty-four, of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows, to that of Thomas Wildy Lodge, Number
Forty-four, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the name of the Fell's Point Lodge, Number Forty-four, of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows, incorporated by the act to incor-
porate Fell's Point Lodge, Number Forty-four, of the Independent
Order of Odd Fellows, passed at December Session, eighteen hundred
and forty-six, chapter two hundred and fifty-five, be and is hereby
changed, and the said corporation is authorized to assume and use the
name of Thomas Wildy Lodge, Number Forty-four, of the Independent
Order of Odd Fellows; provided, said corporation shall on or before
the first day of March next, accept this act as supplementary to its
charter, and shall file a certificate of the acceptance thereof, under its
corporate seal, in the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court of Balti-
more city, to be there recorded.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
day of the passage thereof.
