68 PRIVATE ACTS — CHARTERS
UNIONTOWN, CARROLL COUNTY.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Burgess and Commissioners of Uniontown,
in Carroll county, to change the location of a public alley in said town.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Burgess and Commissioners of Uniontown, in Carroll county,
be and they are hereby authorized to change the location of a public
alley in said town, lying on the north side of the Main street of said
town, and running between the lots belonging to John Gore, and to
open a public alley twenty-nine feet east from the said alley, now opened
to run between the lots of John Gore and John Koons.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said Burgess and Com-
missioners be and they. are hereby authorized to make compensation to
the owners of lands through which said alley shall pass, for any injury
that may be done thereto, and to levy such amount of tax as may be
necessary to pay said damages and the costs and expenses of opening
said alley.
SEC. 3.. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from its
passage.
WASHINGTON COUNTY BANK.
AN ACT to extend the charter of the Washington County Bank of Williamsport,
Washington county, and its several supplements, and the act authorizing said
Bank to establish an office of Discount and Deposit in Hagerstown, in said county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the act of incorporation of the Washington County Bank at Wil-
liamsport in Washington county, passed at December session, eighteen
hundred and thirty-one, chapter one hundred and thirty-three, and the
several supplements thereto, and also the act passed at December ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and thirty-two, chapter ninety-eight, being an
act to amend and explain said act of incorporation, and the act passed
at January session, eighteen hundred and fifty-four, chapter one hun-
dred and seventy-four, entitled, An act to authorize the Washington
County Bank to establish an office of Discount and Deposit in Hagers-
town in Washington county, with the exception of such parts of said
acts of Assembly as are or may be inconsistent with the provisions of
this act, be and the same are hereby extended and continued in force
until the first day of January, in the year one thousand eight hundred
and eighty, and until the end of the next session of the General As-
sembly thereafter.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Bank shall continue to pay
or cause to be paid to the Treasurer of the State of Maryland annually,
during the time aforesaid, the sum of twenty cents on every hundred
dollars of the capital stock of said Bank actually paid in as provided
