at the first session after such new election, as the Constitution and Form of Government of this State directs, in such case, this act and the alterations to the Constitution therein contained, shall constitute and be valid as a part of said Constitution and Form of Government to all intents and purposes, any thing therein contained to the contrary notwithstanding. SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if this act shall be confirmed according to the provisions of the Constitution and Form of Government, in that case made and provided, then shall Lewis Zeigler, John Byer and Jacob Bell, be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, create, lay off, locate and establish an additional election district in the county aforesaid, out of the third and the seventh election districts in said county, and the said commissioners or a majority of them, shall make a return of all their proceedings to Washington county court, to be there recorded at the expense of the county, and paid as county charges are levied and paid, and the commissioners of Washington county are hereby authorised and directed, in case of the death, resignation, refusal or failure to act, on the part of the within named commissioners to appoint such other as they in their discretion may think proper, to fill such vacancy or vacancies. SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners herein authorised to be appointed, shall be entitled to receive such compensation for their services as the commissioners of Washington county may deem reasonable, not exceeding the sum of two dollars per day for every day they shall be necessarily employed in the discharge of the duties required by this act. |
