5248 ARTICLE 24.

under the name and title of the Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City,
with all the rights, franchises, powers, prerogatives and privileges which,
at the date of this enactment, they do, as a body corporate, have, hold and
possess and as well all the rights, franchises, powers, privileges and pre-
rogatives which are given under this enactment, and that may hereafter
be given, acquired and received thereby under the authority of law. And
the said body corporate shall have perpetual succession, and by the said
name may sue and be sued, and they may purchase and otherwise acquire
for corporate purposes, and they may hold and possess property, real,
personal and mixed, and they may sell, dispose of and convey said prop-
erty for the benefit of said town, and they may use a corporate seal, and
may alter the same at pleasure.

191. The corporate limits of Pocomoke City shall include all the land
and territory contained and embraced within the following metes and
bounds, courses and distances, to wit: Beginning at the county wharf on
the Pocomoke river and running thence by and with the said river up to
the bridge causeway; thence by and with the west side of the said cause-
way to "a bridge over Terrapin gut, twenty-one rods northwest of the resi-
dence of the late William H. Merrill; thence north, fifty-five and one-half
degrees, east one hundred and twenty-eight perches to an old red oak stand-
ing on the northeast side of a road leading to Dr. Hearn's house to Winter
Quarter Landing; thence running south twenty-two and one-half degrees
east, one hundred and seventy-four perches; thence south forty-seven
degrees west, two hundred and seventy-three perches, to a ditch on the
edge of a red hill in the field of the late William J. Long; thence north
fifty-five degrees, one hundred and seventy perches to the Pocomoke river
aforesaid, and thence up the said river, and by and with the said river, to
the place of beginning.

192. There is hereby added to the territory of Pocomoke City all the
land lying immediately between the boundaries of the town of Pocomoke
City as they existed prior to the passage of this Act, and the boundaries
fixed by this Act, as follows: Beginning at a stone bounder where for-
merly stood a red oak, the said place of beginning being at the end of
the third line of the survey of the boundaries of the town of Pocomoke
City as they existed prior to the passage of this Act, said beginning point
being described in said survey as "an old red oak standing on the north-
east side of a road leading from Dr. Hearn's house to Winter Quarter
Landing," thence running (1) North fifty-nine and one-half (59 1/2) de-
grees East two hundred eighty-seven (287) feet to a stone bounder in
Winter Quarter Woods, thence (2) South nineteen (19) degrees East
eight hundred fifteen (815) feet to an iron pin driven in the ground eight
(8) feet in an Easterly direction from the East side of a ditch in what
is known as the "Peter Tarr Field, thence (3) South nineteen (19) de-
