having taught for a period of three years in the public schools of the State
of Maryland, shall receive a salary of less than six hundred dollars
($600.00) per school year. Provided, that if such a teacher holds a sec-
ond-grade certificate of the first class, and has taught in the public schools
of the State of Maryland for a period of five years, such teacher shall re-
ceive a salary of not less than six hundred and fifty dollars ($650.00).
Provided, further, that if such a teacher holds a second-grade certificate
of the first class and has taught in the public schools of the State of Mary-
land for a period of eight years, such teacher shall receive a salary of not
less than six hundred and fifty dollars per school year. No white teacher
regularly employed in a public school of Anne Arundel County, holding a
first-grade certificate, shall receive a salary of not less than six hundred
dollars per school year. Provided, that if such teacher holds a first-grade
certificate of the first class, and has taught in the public schools of the
State of Maryland for a period of three years, such teacher shall receive
a salary of not less than seven hundred dollars ($700.00) per school year.
Provided, further, that if such a teacher holds a first-grade certificate of
the first class, and has taught in the public schools of State of Maryland
for a period of five years, such teacher shall receive a salary of not less
than seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750.00) per school year. And pro-
vided, further, that if such a teacher holds a first-grade certificate of the
first class, and has taught in the public schools of the State of Maryland
for a period of eight years, such teacher shall receive a salary of not less
than eight hundred dollars ($800.00) per school year. And the Board of
Education of Anne Arundel County is hereby directed and required to-
pay the salaries of all teachers employed in Anne Arundel County, month-
ly, on the last day of each month.

460. Principals of rural schools in Anne Arundel County not employ-
ing an assistant shall be entitled to an increase of salary as follows: In
such schools where the daily average attendance is over fifteen pupils and
less than twenty-five, an increase of five dollars ($5.00) for each month;
where the daily average attendance is over twenty-five and less than thirty-
five, an increase of ten dollars ($10.00) for each month; where the daily
average is over thirty-five and less than forty, an increase of fifteen dol-
lars ($15.00) for each month.

461. At their annual levy term in the year 1918, and at each annual
levy term thereafter, the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
shall levy such an amount as will be sufficient, together with the revenue
received by the Board of County School Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County from the State of Maryland, to pay the salaries of said teachers as
provided in this Act, and it is hereby made the duty of the Board of Coun-
ty School Commissioners of said Anne Arundel County to furnish to the
said County Commissioners, before the beginning of said levy, a list show-
ing the names of all teachers employed during the past year, and that are
