26. The said Commissioners shall have power to appoint a counsel,
who shall appear in and prosecute or defend all cases, civil or criminal,
where said county is interested as plaintiff or defendant, who shall advise
the County Commissioners when requested, on all questions of law where
the county is concerned, and assist them in all legal inquiries and investi-
gations, and who shall receive an annual salary not exceeding four hun-
dred dollars, payable monthly, during the time of his service, or propor-
tionate part thereof, and the payment thereof shall be provided for in the
annual levy in each and every year, and paid in the same manner as other
indebtedness of said county is paid, and the said County Commissioners
may fill any vacancy caused by resignation, death or otherwise, and may
discharge and appoint a new counsel at its discretion.

27. The purchase and the conveyance by The Salisbury Realty Co.
by deeds dated December the fifteenth, nineteen hundred twenty-four and
January the fifth, nineteen hundred twenty-five, to the County Commis-
sioners of Wicomico County and recorded in the Land Records in Liber
J. C. K. No. 140, Folio 357, and Liber J. O. K. No. 140, Folio 359, of
all those lots or parcels of land in Parsons Election District, on the North
side of and binding on the South Branch of the Wicomico River, and on
the South side of and binding on Dock Street, and being Lots No. 100
and 101 on a plat made by P. S. Shockley dated August 9th, 1919, and
recorded among the Land Records of Wicomico County, Maryland, in
Liber J. C. K. No. 114, Folio 598, are hereby ratified and confirmed.

28. The County Commissioners of Wicomico County may at any time
in their discretion sell at public or private sale all of said lots or any
parcel thereof, when same may not be necessary for county purposes or
uses, and convey and execute a deed of* deeds therefor, and the purchase
money be applied to the general expenses of Wicomico County, and said
Commissioner may lease any part or parcel thereof and apply the rental
thereof to the general expenses of Wicomico County.

28A. The purchase and the conveyance by George H. Myers and Fred-
erick W. C. Webb, assignees, by deed dated the thirteenth day of August,
nineteen hundred and twenty, to the County Commissioners of Wicomico
County and recorded in the Land Records in Liber J. C. K. No. 118, folio
531, of all that lot or parcel of land in Salisbury Election District on the
southerly side of and binding on West Main Street, and on the northerly
side of and binding on the Wicomico River, adjoining the "Pivot Bridge,"
in the City of Salisbury, Salisbury Election District, said Wicomico Coun-
