shall provide for the pay of said officer monthly. It shall be the duty of
said Commissioners to arm and equip said officer and to make such rules
and regulations for his proper conduct and discipline, and immediately
after the passage of this Act the said Commissioners shall designate the
boundary of the territory over which said officer appointed, under the
provisions of this Act, shall have jurisdiction. All Acts or parts of any
Act inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

261. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County may ap-
point a caretaker and chauffeur for the Fire Department of Eastport at
a salary of $80 (eighty dollars) per month, and they shall fix his term
and duties, and the amount required to defray said salary shall be levied
upon the assessable property in the First Precinct of the Second District
of Anne Arundel County.

262. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall, at
their regular meeting in May, nineteen hundred and eight, or as soon
thereafter as possible, and biennially thereafter, appoint five persons,
who shall be registered voters and taxpayers residing within the said town.
The said Commissioners shall hold their office for a period of two years
and until their successors shall be appointed. They shall, within ten days
after their appointment, qualify by taking the oath prescribed by Section
6 of Article 1 of the Constitution of the State, before the Clerk of the
Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County. The said Commissioners shall
serve without pay and be subject to removal at the pleasure of the County
Commissioners and the said County Commissioners shall have the power
to fill all vacancies caused by resignation, death, refusal to act or otherwise.
The town of Eastport shall include all the land covered and embraced
in the Plat of Horn Point, now called Eastport, made by John Duvall,
Esquire, the 30th day of September, 1868, and also the lots abutting on
the west side of First Street, laid down on the said plat, and the improve-
ments thereon.
At the time of making the annual levy, the said County Commissioners
shall levy on the assessable property, including real and personal, liable
to taxation, within the limits of said town, as above designated, a road tax
of eighty-five cents on the one hundred dollars, seventy-five cents of said
road tax shall be used for roads within said area, ten cents of said road
tax shall be set aside by the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County to be used to defray the expenses of the Anne Arundel County
Sanitary Commission, as authorized by Chapter 676 of the Acts of 1927;
and shall be retained by said County Commissioners until paid to said
Sanitary Commission. Adjustment of said ten cents on the one hundred
dollars shall be made according to the assessable basis of each Sanitary
District for county taxation purposes, said expenses shall not in any event
exceed ten cents on the one hundred dollars of said road tax; the balance,
