applied for the maintenance of the public county roads of said counties
respectively.

CIRCUIT COURT.

P. L. L., 1888, Art. 20, sec. 38. 1868, ch. 142.

25. There shall be four terms of the circuit court for Somerset county
in each year, commencing at Princess Anne on the second Monday of
the months of January, April, July and October.

26. Jurors shall be summoned to the April and October terms of said
court, and the judges of said court, whenever in their judgment it may
be expedient, may order twenty-five persons qualified to serve as jurors,
to be summoned to attend the said court as petit jurors at its January
and July terms.

27. The judges of said court may pass all such rules as shall be neces-
sary to facilitate the transaction of business in said court, and such rules
shall provide for the transaction of equity business, for which the court
shall be considered as always open.

COURT STENOGRAPHER.

1908, oh. 437, sec. 1 (p. 747).

28. The judges of the first judicial circuit of this State are hereby
authorized and empowered to employ a competent stenographer to serve
in the respective courts of said circuit.

29. The salary of said stenographer shall be one thousand dollars
($1,000) per year, from the first day of May, nineteen hundred and
eight; the said salary to be paid as follows: The County Commissioners
of Dorchester county, Wicomico county, Somerset county and Worcester
county shall each pay the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars thereof.
Said payments to be made in quarterly instalments from the first day of
May, nineteen hundred and eight, during service, on the presentation of
the certificate of the clerk of either county or of either of said judges of
said court, to the County Commissioners certifying to the services of
said court stenographer. And the said County Commissioners of the
several counties are hereby directed and empowered to provide for the
payment of their several portions of the salary of the said stenographer
at once on presentation of said certificate.

30. The stenographer appointed under this Act shall serve for one
year or until his successor shall be appointed by the judges aforesaid, but
