there shall be elected three County Commissioners for Queen Anne's
County, and thereafter the number of County Commissioners for said
Queen Anne's County shall be three, and there shall be elected at every
general election held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in Novem-
ber in every second year thereafter three County Commissioners for Queen
Anne's County, and the County Commissioners so elected shall hold their
office for the term of two years from the date of their election, or until
their successors shall be elected and qualified, and they shall be eligible for
re-election.*

183. In case of the death, removal or resignation of any County Com-
missioner during the term of his office, the Governor shall have the power
to fill the vacancy until the next general election.

184. The County Commissioners for Queen Anne's County shall meet
as often as they may deem necessary; provided, that they shall hold not
less than one meeting in each week, and each of said County Commission-
ers shall receive for his services five dollars for each meeting he shall
attend, and mileage as is now allowed by law; provided that no County
Commissioner shall receive in any one year as compensation for his serv-
ices a sum exceeding five hundred dollars.

185. They shall appoint a person well qualified, and a resident of said
county, as their clerk, who, before entering upon the duties of his office,
shall, before one of said commissioners, take and subscribe the following
oath: "I, A. B., do swear that, as clerk to the county commissioners of
Queen Anne's County, I will honestly and faithfully, to the best of my
skill and judgment, execute the duties of said office, without favor, affec-
tion or prejudice, so help me Grod."

186. The said clerk shall also execute a bond to the State of Maryland,
approved by said commissioners, in the penalty of one thousand dollars,
for the true and faithful performance of the duties of his office, which
bond shall be recorded in the office of the clerk of the circuit court for
said county.

187. The Clerk of the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County
shall receive annually as a compensation for his services the sum of
twelve hundred dollars, and said clerk is empowered to administer an
oath or affirmation to any account to any person presenting a claim to the
