103. The compensation of said chimney sweep shall be fifteen cents
for each chimney swept, to be paid by the occupier of the house to which
said chimney is joined.

104. The commissioners are authorized and empowered to erect within
said town a suitable market-house, or repair and improve the one now
standing, and provide for the payment for the same, either by issuing the
bonds of the town, payable as said commissioners shall determine, or by a
levy upon the taxable property in said town, as they may deem proper;
and they shall have full power to pass such ordinances as to them may
seem best for the establishment, government and regulation of said market.

105. In the absence of the bailiff, they shall have power to make ar-
rests of persons found violating the laws or ordinances of the town, and
to summon witnesses and compel their attendance before a justice of the

106. They shall have full power to regulate the building of flues in
the town, and may prevent by ordinance the protruding of stove pipes
through the sides of houses or walls, so as to endanger property in the

papers published in said town, a full, accurate and complete statement of
all moneys expended by them, specifying the particular amount, to whom

108. They shall have full power and authority to order, direct and
provide for the grading, regulating, paving and repairing of the gutters
