organized in said town, and for the housing, use, maintenance and equip-
ment of its successor if said company shall cease to exist, the said addi-
tional or special tax to be made and levied at the time of levying other
taxes for the use of the town on the annual estimate to be furnished the
said commissioners by the chief of said company and to be collected at
the same time and in the same manner that the other taxes levied for the
use of said town are collected, all provisions of law for the collection
thereof being hereby made applicable to the collection of said special tax;
all money raised by the tax authorized by this section shall be paid to the
treasurer of said commissioners, whose official bond shall be liable there-
for when received by him, and he shall pay out said money only upon the
joint requisition or order of the chief and president of the said fire com-
pany, and the said chief shall file with said treasurer annually an account
showing the expenditure of said money, with the vouchers therefor.

66. The said Town Commissioners shall, annually, appoint a Town
Clerk on or before the first day of May, who shall hold his office for the
term of one year from the date of his appointment and until a successor
is appointed and qualified and who shall be subject at all times to be
removed by said Commissioners at will. It shall be the duty of said
Town Clerk to collect all town taxes levied by said Town Commissioners
in said town of Centreville or payable to said Town Commissioners; said
Town Clerk shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, before one
of said Commissioners, take and subscribe the following oath: "I.......

............ in the presence of Almighty God, do solemnly promise and

declare that, as Clerk to the Town Commissioners of Centreville, I will
honestly amd faithfully, to the best of my skill and judgment, execute the
duties of the office of Town Clerk without favor, affection or prejudice."
And the said Town Clerk shall also before entering upon the duties of
this office execute and deliver to the State of Maryland a bond with a
guarantee or surety company of this State as surety, to be approved by
the said Town Commissioners of Centreville, in such sums as said Com-
missioners may require, conditioned for the faithful and proper collection
of all taxes levied and placed in his hands for collection for said town of
Centreville, and for the paying over to said Commissioners forthwith all
moneys so collected, and the faithful performance of all other duties
devolving on him, and said bonds to be filed and recorded in the office of
the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Queen Anne's County.

67. It shall be the duty of said Town Clerk each year during his term
of office, as soon as the annual levy is made, to give public notice thereof
by advertisement, inserted in two newspapers printed and published in
said town, if there be that number printed and published, if not, then
said advertisement shall be printed in one such newspaper only, and the
taxes so levied shall be due and payable on the first day of June of the year
