4060 ARTICLE 17.

provided said petition is filed forty days before any general election.
The Board of Supervisors of Elections shall cause to be printed on the
ballot of such road district at the next general election the proposition pre-
sented by such petition in the following form: "For road tax of ——— cents
for ——— years," and "Against road tax of ——— cents for ——— years,"
using the figures set forth in the petition and providing a block or box
opposite each line on the ballot as in the case of constitutional amendments.
Not more than one proposition in any district shall be presented at any
general election, and if more than one petition is filed with said Super-
visors of Elections by any road district, that proposition presented by the
petition first filed shall be printed upon the ballot. The sample ballots
relating to any such election shall have printed upon them the substance
of the petition as constitutional amendments are now required to be
printed upon said ballots. The vote on said proposition shall be canvassed
and returned as a vote on constitutional amendments are now canvassed
and returned, except that the Board of Supervisors of Elections after
final canvass shall certify the result of said vote to the County Commis-
sioners of Prince George's County. If the result of such vote as so
certified shall show a majority in favor of a special tax levy, the County
Commissioners shall annually thereafter levy against the property as-
sessed for purposes of taxation within said road district, the amount so
voted upon, and for the number of years so voted upon. And the sum so
levied shall be expended by the County Commissioners under the super-
vision of the district road committee and the Board of County Com-
missioners in said district as its added apportionment. That in any road
district where there is an incorporated town or towns, said incorporated
town or towns shall be excluded as a part of the road district asking for
the vote on the special tax levy, and shall not share in the proceeds of said
levy, and the property therein shall be exempt, unless the majority of the
taxpayers in the incorporated town or towns in said district petition the
Supervisors of Elections that the said incorporated town or towns be
made a part of said district for the purpose of being taxed under the
provisions of this section, in which event the property in said incorpo-
rated town or towns shall be included for the purpose of being taxed
under the provisions hereof.

896. Upon the request of the district road committee of any road dis-
trict or districts to the County Commissioners for the service of an engi-
neer for any special road or bridge work, or the County Commissioners
on their own account desire the services of an engineer for any special
road or bridge work, the said engineer may be employed by the day
and his services paid for by the road district or districts in which his
services may be rendered, if employed by said district road committee
or committees, and if employed by the Board of County Commissioners
he shall be paid by the day for his services out of the fund provided for
in Section 893 of this Article. That the construction of new bridges and
