406 ARTICLE 2.

1922, ch. 83, sec. 4.

167. On the completion of said bridge, and annually thereafter in the
mouth of May, the said County Commissioners are hereby authorized and
directed to appoint some suitable and competent person to act as keeper
of said bridge, whose duty it shall be to attend the opening and closing
of the draw of said bridge, and to perform such other duties in regard to
the keeping of said bridge in proper and safe condition as the County
Commissioners may direct, and the keeper of said bridge shall receive
as compensation for his services the sum of twenty-five ($25.00) dollars
per month, to be provided by the said County Commissioners as authorized
in Section 166 of this subtitle.

168. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall have
full power and authority to make reasonable rules and regulations for the
use of said bridge by the public and for the protection of said bridge,
and shall have full power and authority to enforce the observance thereof,
by imposing upon the person or persons violating said rules and regula-
tions any reasonable fine not exceeding ten ($10.00) dollars, for the viola-
tion thereof, which fine shall be collected as small debts are now collected,
and shall be recovered in the name of said County Commissioners before
any justice of the peace for said county, and on refusal or failure to pay
and inability to collect the same by legal process, the person or persons
so fined, shall be committed to the county jail, of the county, for a period
not exceeding ten (10) days, in the same manner as commitments are
made for fines imposed by the Circuit Courts of this State, on conviction
for misdemeanor; and all fines when collected shall be applied to the
maintenance of said bridge.

169. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are hereby
directed to appoint five policemen for the better protection of persons and
property in Anne Arundel County; which policemen shall be stationed,
at the discretion of said County Commissioners, at Glenburnie, Ferndale,
Linthicum Heights, first precinct of the Third Election District of Anne
Arundel County, and such other places in the Fifth Election District of
said county as the said commissioners may deem proper; the policemen
so appointed shall be under the control and direction of the County Com-
missioners. The policemen appointed after the passage of this Act shall
serve until the first day of January, 1928, and until their successors are
duly appointed, and thereafter such appointment shall be made every two
years. The County Commissioners shall have power at any time at their
pleasure to suspend without pay or remove any of the policemen so ap-
pointed for any inefficiency, neglect of duty or violation of any of the
