ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY. 405

said bridge, whose duty it shall be to attend the opening and closing of
the draw of said bridge; and to perform such other duties in regard to
keeping said bridge in proper and safe condition as the County Commis-
sioners may direct; and the keeper of said bridge shall receive as com-
pensation for his services the sum of one dollar per day, to be provided
by the said County Commissioners as authorized by this Act.

No traction engine shall be permitted to pass over said bridge without
the written consent of a majority of the Board of County Commissioners
of said county.

The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall have full
power and authority to make reasonable rules and regulations for the use
of said bridge by the public and for the protection of said bridge, and
shall have full power and authority to enforce the observance thereof, and
of this section, by imposing upon the person or persons violating said
rules and regulations of this Act any reasonable fine not exceeding ten
dollars ($10.00) for the violation thereof, which fine shall be collected
as small debts are now collected, and shall be recovered in the name of
said County Commissioners before any justice of the peace for said
county; and on refusal or failure to pay and inability to collect the same
by legal process the person or persons so fined shall be committed to the
county jail of the county for a period not exceeding ten days, in the same
manner as commitments are made for fines imposed by the Circuit Courts
of this State on conviction for misdemeanor; and all fines when collected
shall be applied to the maintenance of said bridge.*

1918, ch. 146. 1922, ch. 83, sec. 1.

165. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County, in the
State of Maryland, are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
erect and construct a draw bridge over South River, in the Second Elec-
tion District of Anne Arundel County, aforesaid, from the west side of
said river, at Riverview, to a point connecting the public road at Tucker's
Landing, immediately opposite on the east side of said river and at a
point which will give the most direct route of traffic and shorten the dis-
tance in connection therewith to Annapolis City, and the cost of erecting
said bridge shall not exceed the sum of fifty thousand ($50,000) dollars.+

1922, ch. 83, sec. 3.

166. The said County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
hereby authorized and directed to levy annually on the taxable property
of said county a sum of money sufficient to pay the interest on the bonds
to be issued as aforesaid, to pay the principal of said bonds to be issued
as aforesaid, as they mature, and to maintain said bridge and to keep the
same in good and safe repair.

*The first two sections of ch. 716, 1912, authorized bonds for the erection of a
drawbridge over Stony Creek.

+This bridge probably makes unnecessary the operation of the ferry provided
for in sec. 238.
