3572 ARTICLE 16.

Roads Commission as herein provided the County Commissioners shall
pay over to said Commission the sum of three thousand dollars for each
and every mile so taken over by said commission, said three thousand
dollars to be spent by said State Roads Commission for the repairing and
re-surfacing of any road or roads accepted under and by the provisions of
this Act, providing that the amount of money paid to said State Roads
Commission shall not exceed the sum of sixty thousand dollars, and pro-
vided further that upon the acceptance by the State Roads Commission
of the sum of three thousand dollars for each mile of stone road accepted
as aforesaid shall thereafter be kept and maintained by said Commission
as a part of the State's System of Highway and the County Commissioners
are relieved of the further maintenance of same.

787. The County Commissioners are hereby authorized and empow-
ered to expend any money levied for the fiscal years 1922 and 1923, for
road purposes exclusive of the levy for dirt roads, for the purpose of re-
pairing and re-surfacing any additional stone roads to be accepted by the
State Roads Commission at the rate of three thousand dollars a mile, this
amount being in addition to amount of money being provided for in said
bond issue. That upon the acceptance of any stone road or roads by the
State Roads Commission under the provisions of this section, the said
County Commissioners shall pay to said Commission a sum of money not
to exceed three thousand dollars per mile for each mile accepted and taken
over by said Commission to become a part of the State Highway System,
and when so accepted to relieve the County Commissioners of future
maintenance of said roads so accepted.*

1922, ch. 272.

788. The County Commissioners of Montgomery County are hereby
authorized and empowered to purchase a site or sites of land in any or all
of the election districts of said county and erect thereon suitable buildings
where the road machinery of all kind, nature and description may be
housed when not in use on the county roads and it shall be the duty of each
road Superintendent or Supervisors to see that such tools, implements or
machinery that has been used in the building or repair of roads shall be
properly housed when not in use. That on the first day of April and
October in each and every year the County Commissioners shall be fur-
nished with a list of all the equipment of the county in each of the said
county store-rooms in each district by the Supervisor having the same in
charge and the County Commissioners shall hold responsible all persons
who shall have the care and custody of any of the tools, implements or
machinery belonging or owned by the county and no person shall be per-
mitted to remove or use any of said equipment without the written per-
mission first had and obtained from the Board of County Commissioners
