2678 ARTICLE 11.

the time aforesaid, the Commissioners shall give such notice and call
said public meeting at any time prior to the first Monday of May, as
they shall think proper. At any time after the first general election held
under this sub-title the Burgess and Commissioners may by ordinance

provide for the method of making nominations and conducting elections
and certifying returns thereof in a manner different from that herein
provided.

WITNESSES.

861. Each witness attending the Circuit Court or Orphans' Court,
shall be entitled to the sum of one dollar a day for each day's attendance,
besides itinerant charges to be allowed to witnesses coming from other

counties.

862. The County Commissioners shall annually levy a sufficient sum
in advance, to pay the State's witnesses in said county, at the close of

each term of the Circuit Court.

863. Whenever any person shall present to the collector of said county
an order from the Clerk of the Circuit Court for his attendance as a
State's witness, he shall pay to such person or his order, the amount due
him, after deducting therefrom all charges he may have against such
witness.

864. All witnesses summoned in any case upon a summons issued ont

of the Circuit Court for Frederick County, residing in said county more
than ten miles from Frederick City, shall be allowed the sum of ten cents
per mile one way, for each mile over and above ten miles they may reside
from said Frederick City and which they are compelled to travel in obey-
ing said summons.

865. Said mileage shall not be allowed more than once in any case,
and shall be taxed up and paid in the same way that witness fees are now
paid.

WOLVES AND FOXES.

866. Any person who shall kill any wolf in said county, shall be

entitled to compensation therefor from the county, as follows: For every

old wolf sixteen dollars, and for every young wolf eight dollars.
