Monday of May in each year, and all officers elected shall hold office until
their successors in office are duly elected and qualified. The Burgess shall
receive as compensation for his services the sum of $15.00 per annum, and
each Commissioner the sum of $5.00 per annum. Said Burgess and Com-
missioners shall be residents of the town for at least one year prior to
their election, and shall be twenty-five years of age or over, and the bona
fide owners of real or personal property, or the husband of bona fide own-
ers of real or personal property assessed upon the tax books of said cor-
poration, for at least five hundred dollars.

831. Said Commissioners shall elect one of their number President
pro tem. of the Board of Commissioners, who shall act as Burgess with
all the rights, powers and duties of said Burgess, except the power of
appointment or removal during the temporary absence or illness of the
Burgess, and in case the office of Burgess shall become vacant, from
any cause; and in case of the removal of any Commissioner beyond the
corporate limits of the town, or in case of a vacancy in the office of
Commissioner, the Commissioners, or a majority of them, shall elect a
Commissioner to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term and
until a successor shall be elected and qualified.

832. The Burgess and Commissioners shall constitute a Board to be
known as the Board of Commissioners. The Burgess, by virtue of his
office, shall be President of the Board of Commissioners and shall pre-
side at all meetings of said Board, and said Board shall meet in said
town on the first Monday in June succeeding their election, and at least
once in each alternate month thereafter. A majority of the Board of
Commissioners shall constitute a quorum, but a smaller number may
adjourn from day to day. The Burgess may convene the Board of Com-
missioners whenever and as often as in his opinion the interests of the
town require their deliberation, and whenever requested so to do by a
majority of the Commissioners. Said Board shall determine upon and
settle their rules of procedure. All ordinances and resolutions passed by
the Board shall be signed by the Burgess and attested by the Clerk to the
Board of Commissioners, and all meetings shall be open to the public.

833. The Burgess shall at the first regular meeting of the Board of
Commissioners, after their election, and annually thereafter, appoint,
subject to confirmation by a majority of the Commissioners elected, a
Treasurer, who may be one of their members, and said Treasurer may be
required to give bond in such sum with such surety or sureties as the
Board of Commissioners shall by ordinance prescribe.
