2640 ARTICLE 11.

1912, ch. 583, sec. 1. 1918 Code, sec. 696.

716. The county school commissioners of Frederick County are author-
ized and empowered to pay annually, in their discretion, a sum of money
not exceeding two hundred and fifty dollars, to the Sisters of Charity of
Saint Euphemia's School, from the money received by them from the
County Commissioners of Frederick County for school purposes for edu-
cating colored children in said school.

717. Beginning with the scholastic year, 1914-1915, all the school
teachers who shall have been engaged in teaching for three years in the
schools of Frederick County, shall receive the following increase in sal-
aries : Every teacher who has taught at least ten years in the schools of
said Frederick County shall receive an increase of ten per cent, on the
salary as paid said teacher by the School Commissioners of said Frederick
County for the scholastic year, 1913-1914, provided that all such teachers
shall have an educational preparation for their work, equivalent at least
to the course given in any one of the High Schools of said Frederick Coun-
ty; all other teachers shall receive an increase of five per cent, on the sal-
ary as paid by the School Commissioners of said Frederick County for
the scholastic year, 1913-1914, provided they shall have taught three years
in the schools of said Frederick County; provided further, that when any
of these teachers receiving the five per cent, increase shall have taught ten
years in the schools of said Frederick County, and shall have had the edu-
cational preparation as previously stated, they shall each receive the addi-
tional five per cent, increase on the salary received during the tenth year
of their teaching in said schools of Frederick County.

718. The County Commissioners of said Frederick County are em-
powered, commanded and directed to levy upon the taxable property of
Frederick County for sufficient sums to pay the increase as provided for
in this Act; and the School Commissioners of Frederick County are em-
powered, commanded and directed to notify the County Commissioners of
said Frederick County in due time of the amount needed to pay this in-
crease; and the School Commissioners of Frederick County are also em-
powered, commanded and directed to pay over to the teachers of Frederick
County the said increase.

719. The judges and clerks of elections in Frederick County shall each
be entitled to three dollars for every day they shall attend and act as such.
