DOECHESTER COUNTY. 2355

partridge, lark, dove or robin, or any insectivorous bird of any kind what-
soever, or any rabbit or squirrel, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and shall be liable to presentment and indictment therefor by the grand
jury of said county, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less
than five or more than fifty dollars, to be imprisoned in the jail of said
county not less than one month or more than three months, or be both
fined and imprisoned as aforesaid, in the discretion of the court before
which said presentment or indictment shall be tried; provided, that the
owner or possessor of the land trespassed upon shall have fore-warned all
persons from hunting with dog or gun thereupon, by notice through some
newspaper published in Dorchester County, or by posters placed in at least
five of the most conspicuous places upon said land, and that the person
presented or indicted shall not have afterwards obtained the permission
of said owner or possessor so to hunt or gun.

516. Any person or persons who shall wilfully and maliciously enter
upon the enclosed lands of another with intent to annoy or disturb, or
provoke to a breach of the peace the owner or owners, occupant or occu-
pants thereof, or who shall wilfully enter upon or cross the enclosed land
of another after being forewarned by the owner or owners, occupant or
occupants, of said land, from entering upon or crossing the same, by
notice either in person or by written or printed posters placed in at least
five conspicuous places upon said land, shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and upon conviction thereof before a justice of the peace, or in
the Circuit Court for Dorchester County, shall be sentenced to pay a
fine of not less than one dollar nor more than twenty-five dollars and the
costs of prosecution, and to stand committed to the jail of said county
until such fines and costs are paid, or for a term therein not exceeding
thirty days, in the discretion of the court or justice trying the same.

517. Any person or persons who shall wilfully or maliciously leave
open any private or farm gate by which any growing crop or crops become
exposed to damage by the entrance of stock of any kind thereon, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction before a justice
of the peace or in the Circuit Court for Dorchester County, shall be
sentenced to pay a fine of not less than five dollars nor more than fifty
dollars and the costs of the prosecution, and stand committed to the jail of
said county until such fines and costs are paid, or for a term therein not
exceeding sixty days, in the discretion of the court or justice trying the
same.

518. Any person found trespassing upon the lands or marshes of an-
other in said county with the intention of catching, trapping or shooting
any muskrats, otters or minks without the permission of the owner of
said lands or marshes, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on
