and the portion lying in Allegany County of the road mentioned in Chap-
ter 158 of the Acts of 1878, known as the national turnpike, and all other
public roads in said county.

1924, ch. 295.

569. The Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County are
hereby authorized to grant and convey unto the Board of Road Directors
for Allegany County a strip of land, forty feet wide, through and across
the property known as the County Home Farm for the purpose of a
public road, provided that the said Board of County Commissioners shall
deem it advisable that the road known as the Little Valley Road should be
relocated so as to run through and across said "County Home Farm" and
provided further that said Board of Road Directors shall only relocate
said road in such manner and upon such terms as shall be approved by
the said Board of County Commissioners.

570. It shall be the duty of the Board of School Commissioners for
Allegany County to erect and maintain fire-escapes on all public school
buildings of two stories and over in Allegany County, each of such build-
ings to have at least two fire-escapes of safe, substantial and modern con-
struction on opposite sides of such buildings; the failure to comply with
this Act on the part of said School Commissioners to constitute misfeas-
ance in office, and, upon trial and conviction, the office of said Commis-
sioners shall be, by the Circuit Court for Allegany County, declared
vacant, and said Commissioners be removed from their said office.

571. The Board of County Commissioners are hereby authorized, em-
powered, directed and required to levy such a tax upon the assessable
property of said County as the Board of County School Commissioners of
said County shall designate as proper, to defray the usual and necessary
expenses of the public schools of said county; provided, that said tax
shall not exceed the sum of thirty (30) cents on the one hundred ($100)
dollars, unless the Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County
shall approve and sanction an additional tax; taxes so levied and collected
shall be levied and collected as other taxes, and shall be paid over to the
Treasurer of the Board of County School Commissioners of Allegany
County upon the order of said board, at such times and in such amounts
as shall be necessary.
