barn; thence with a straight line to what is known as the Red Gate, sit-
uated on the county road leading to Taneytown; then with a straight line
to the place of beginning.

508. All persons who have resided in the town of Uniontown for six
months, and who are qualified to vote for delegates to the General Assem-
bly, and all adult male non-residents who may hold real estate in said
town shall, on the first Saturday in April in each year, elect by ballot,
one person for' Burgess and four persons for Commissioners, all of whom
shall have resided in the town one year previous to the day of election, and
who shall each be the owner in his own right, of real or personal estate
therein, assessed at not less than two hundred and fifty dollars; and the
said officers shall be known as the Burgess and Commissioners of Union-
town.

509. If the Burgess, or any member of the Board of Commissioners,
shall die, resign, remove from the town, or from any cause be disqualified
during the year for which they have been elected, the Commissioners may
elect a Burgess ad interim from their own number, for the balance of
the term, or the Burgess and the remaining members of the Commission-
ers may elect one or more Commissioners to fill the balance of the term.

510. All elections shall be held and conducted as shall be from time
to time directed by the laws and ordinances of the said corporation, not
inconsistent with the provisions of this subtitle of this Article.

511. The Burgess and Commissioners shall meet at some convenient
place in the town at least once in every three months, or oftener if neces-
sary; and the Burgess shall prescribe at all meetings of the Commission-
ers, and shall have the same power of voting and taking part in all delib-
erations of the Commissioners as any member of said board.

512. They shall have power to make all such by-laws, rules, regula-
tions and ordinances—the same not being inconsistent with the laws and
Constitution of this State—as from time to time they may deem wise,
equitable and expedient for the comfort, health, convenience and pro-
priety of the said town and its inhabitants, and for the removal and pre-
vention of all nuisances, the preservation of health, and the suppression
of vice and immorality in said town.
