1580 ARTICLE 6.

perches to a cement marker; thence north seven and one-half degrees
West one hundred and sixty perches to the end of the first line. The
Mayor and Council of said town may hereafter shorten or lengthen or
change the courses and distances of said bounds, in their discretion; pro-
vided, that the entire area of said town shall not exceed seven hundred
acres; and such changes shall be at once surveyed and platted and re-
corded among the Land Records of Caroline County.

1929, ch. 21, sec. 3.

180. The government, corporate authority, rights, powers and privi-
leges of the said town shall be vested in and exercised by a Mayor and
four Councilmen who shall be elected as hereinafter provided, who shall
be qualified voters of the town of Federalsburg for at least one year next
preceding their election, and their term shall be as hereinafter provided
or until their successors are elected and qualified.

1929, ch. 21, sec. 4.

181. On the fourth Monday of April in 1929 and on the fourth Mon-
day of April every two years thereafter an election shall be held between
the hours of one and five o'clock P. M. under this Charter for the election
of the Mayor and Council after notice printed in some newspaper of gen-
eral circulation printed and published in Caroline County or posted
in three conspicuous places in the town of Federalsburg for at least ten
days before the election, and all inhabitants of the said town qualified to
vote for delegates to the General Assembly of Maryland, who have been
residents of the said town for at least, one year, shall be qualified to vote
for the said Mayor and Council at the election to be held on the fourth
Monday of April, 1929, and at all subsequent elections which shall be
held under this Charter, and all person or persons deciding to become a
candidate for Mayor or Councilman shall at least fifteen days prior to
said election file with the Clerk of Federalsburg a written statement of
such candidacy, accompanied by a petition signed by at least ten duly
qualified voters nominating such candidate, which written statement of
candidacy and the voters' nominating petition shall be substantially in
the following form:

CANDIDATE FOR NOMINATION FOR

Office.
State of Maryland, Caroline County, to wit:

I, ....................... hereby certify .that I am now and have

been for more than one year a resident of the town of Federalsburg, Caro-
line County, Maryland, and that I am a qualified voter therein; that I
am a candidate for the Office of ..................... to be voted upon

at the town election to be held on the fourth Monday of April, 19......

and I hereby request my name be printed upon the official ballot at said
election as a candidate for said office.
