Constitutionality.

1927, ch. 297, sec. 179Z.

350. The unconstitutionally of any one or more of the foregoing pro-
visions or sections shall not be construed as invalidating the entire Act.*

JUSTICES AT LARGE.

1927, ch. 292.

351. There shall be appointed by the Governor in the year 1927, sub-
ject to the confirmation of the Senate of Maryland, and thereafter in
accordance with law, Two Justices of the Peace and none other, for Elec-
tion Districts, Numbers 11, 12, 19, 24, 26, 28, 30, and 32, in Allegany
County, Maryland, said Two Justices of the Peace shall be Justices of
the Peace at Large for said Election Districts; each of said Two Justices
shall receive an annual salary of twelve hundred dollars, each, payable
in monthly installments of one hundred dollars each, by the County Com-
missioners of Allegany County, Maryland, which said salary shall be in
lieu of all fees in criminal cases, all of which said fees in criminal cases
shall be payable to the County Treasurer for Allegany County, Maryland;
said Two Justices of the Peace shall, by virtue of their office be the Police
Magistrates for the Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg, Allegany Coun-
ty, Maryland, and shall act as such for six months in turn in each year
upon such compensation as the Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg may
determine; they shall possess all powers and authority for the determina-
tion of criminal and civil cases as shall be brought before them as is now
provided or may hereafter be provided by law. The Civil jurisdiction of
said Justices shall be the same as provided for in Article 52, Sections 5
to 11, inclusive, of the Annotated Code of Maryland except as to amount
which shall not exceed two hundred dollars. +

352. There shall be appointed by the Governor in the year 1929, sub-
ject to the confirmation of the Senate and thereafter in accordance with
existing law, one Justice of the Peace for Election Districts Numbers 18
and 27, which said one Justice of the Peace so appointed shall be a Jus-
tice of the Peace at Large for said two Election Districts and there shall
be none other appointed; said Justice so appointed shall receive an annual
salary of five hundred dollars, payable monthly, by the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County, which said salary shall be in lieu of criminal
fees and costs, all of which said criminal fees and coats, including costs in
motor vehicle cases shall be remitted to the Treasurer for Allegany County
each month; the civil jurisdiction of said Justice shall be the same as
provided in the Code of Maryland, Article 52, Sections 5 to 11, except
