588 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [Ch. 419]

SECTION 39A. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Sheriff of Baltimore City shall pay over to
the State of Maryland all fines, fees and forfeitures collected by
him in those cases in which he is denominated the informer
or is denominated in any other manner whatsoever, and shall
render an accounting thereof to the State of Maryland, and shall
pay over the same at all times on the demand of the Comp-
troller.

Provided, that this act shall in no manner affect, determine
or annul any proceeding at law or in equity now brought, pend-
ing or to be brought in the future by the State of Maryland
against any sheriffs or former sheriffs of Baltimore City in
which the cause of action or dispute or matter in issue involves
or relates to the accounting of sheriffs or former sheriffs of Bal-
timore City who may be such prior to the taking effect of this
act to the State of Maryland for fees due or alleged to be due
by them to the State and received by them prior to the taking
effect of this act.

And be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect from
the first day of June, 1912.

CHAPTER 419.

AN ACT to declare the sanction and consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland to sundry gifts and bequests con-
tained in the last wills and testaments of Virginia Benjamin
and Honorah F. Kell, both of Baltimore City, deceased.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sanction and consent of the General Assembly
of Maryland be, and the same is hereby declared, given and
granted to the following gifts and bequests to and for the use of
certain ministerial persons, religious corporations, denomina-
tions, churches or sects and to certain charitable institutions as
hereinafter set forth, as contained in the last will and testa-
ment and codicil of Virginia Benjamin, late of Baltimore City,
deceased, that is to say to the priests who at the time of testa-
trix's death should be pastors of St. Barnabas, St. Francis, St.
Monica's, St. Peter Claver's and St. Patrick Churches, respec-
tively, for masses for the benefit of the soul of the testatrix, one
hundred dollars each. And to the Oblate Sisters of Providence,
a body corporate of Baltimore, one hundred dollars. And to
St. Joseph's Seminary on Pennsylvania avenue, Baltimore, to
