to authorize and direct the proper officers of the State of
Maryland to unite in any deed or other instrument necessary
to effect such transfer as may be so agreed by said association.

WHEREAS, In pursuance of the provisions of Chapter 5 of the
Acts of the year eighteen hundred and eighty of the General
Assembly of Maryland, the Governor of the State of Mary-
land did accept on behalf of the State a transfer from the
United States of America of the Pikesville Arsenal, to be
held by said State for militia purposes or for such other pur-
poses as the necessities of the State require; and,

WHEREAS, In pursuance of the provisions of Chapter 46 of the
Acts of the year eighteen hundred and eighty-eight of said
General Assembly of Maryland the use of said Pikesville
Arsenal and its property and buildings was transferred to
the association of the Maryland Line to be used by it for the
benefit of disabled and destitute soldiers as long as the same
might be needed for the purposes aforesaid; and,

WHEREAS, It has been represented to said Association of the
Maryland Line that a portion of said property may be advan-
tageously and to the great public benefit used for the purpose
of a public school, and it is desired to authorize said associa-
tion of the Maryland Line to transfer to the School Commis-
sioners of Baltimore County such portion, if any, of said
property as said association may be willing so to transfer;
therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Association of the Maryland Line be and it is
hereby authorized and empowered, if in its sole discretion it
may deem wise so to do, to transfer and make over to the School
Commissioners of Baltimore County for the purposes of a pub-
lic school, such portion, not exceeding three acres in extent of
the property, formerly known as Pikesville Arsenal, as said
Association of the Maryland Line may be willing to the trans-
fer of said property for the said purposes.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the proper officials
of the State of Maryland are hereby authorized and directed
whenever hereafter said Association of the Maryland Line may
agree with the School Commissioners of Baltimore County for
a transfer of any portion of the said property, as set forth in
section 1 of this act, to unite in execution and delivery to said
