this act as may be deemed of interest to the public. On or
before May first in each year said commission shall cause to
have been made by a certified public accountant an audit of
its receipts and disbursements, which audit shall be published
in full in the bulletin aforesaid, and a synopsis of which, like-
wise to be prepared by said accountant, shall be published in
such of the county papers published in Baltimore county as
may be designated by said commission. All maps, plans and
statistics made, collected and compiled under the direction of
said commission shall be preserved in its office in such manner
as to be readily accessible at all times. All such books, records,
accounts and other data of said commission shall be public rec-
ords, and shall be open at all times to inspection by any tax-
payer of Baltimore county. Said commission shall also have
authority to employ such bookkeepers, clerks, stenographers and
other assistants for office duties as may from time to time
actually be required for the proper performance of the duties
in this act prescribed. The salaries of the members of said
commission, its counsel, its secretary and other office-assistants,
together with all its office expenses;" shall be paid by the County
Commissioners out of the general road and bridge fund of
the county. The salary of the chief engineer and the salaries
and wages of his assistants, together with all other expenses
incurred in connection with the work of the commission, shall
be paid out of the fund of $1,500,000.00 to be raised as here-
inafter provided and apportioned among and charged to the
accounts of the respective districts on behalf of which the same
are incurred. It shall be the duty of the members of the com-
mission from time to time to travel over and personally inspect
the public highways in the several parts of the county and
the work being done on the same, in order that they may have,
as far as possible, personal knowledge of the progress of such
work and the requirements of the several sections of the county
in reference to the matter of roads in said county, as well
as of the progress from time to time of the work of such com-
mission. The Governor may remove from office any member of
the Good Roads Commission of Baltimore County upon proof
of malfeasance in office after specific charges in writing have
been filed and after giving the member against whom such
charges are filed a public hearing upon the same. In the event
of the death, resignation or removal of James Rittenhouse, or
George W. Yellott, Democratic members of said commission, or
their successors appointed as herein provided, the Governor
shall request the Democratic State Central Committee for Bal-
timore County to designate four persons who shall be residents,
