44 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [Ch. 8]

CHAPTER 8.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments section 71
of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
entitled "Allegany County" and sub-titled "Cumberland,"
as enacted by Chapter 56 of the Acts of 1892.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section 71 of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, entitled "Allegany County" sub-
titled "Cumberland," as enacted by Chapter 56 of the Acts of
1892, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments, so as to read as follows:

71. The Mayor and City Council shall cause to be main-
tained a registration of the legal voters in the city wards of
said city, and the registration made under authority of exist-
ing law shall, together with such additions, changes and altera-
tions as may be or become necessary, constitute such registra-
tion; said registration shall be made and corrected in the man-
ner provided in the general registration law of the State, and
shall specify the residence of the voter on each street, lane or
alley, and such registration shall be essential to the right of
voting at any election under this charter, but shall not be
conclusive evidence of such right to vote; said Mayor and City
Council shall annually on or before the second Monday of Feb-
ruary in each year, elect two persons of opposite politics to act
as officers of registration, who shall sit as officers of registration
in the council chamber at least five days, commencing on the
last Monday of February in each year, for nine hours each
day, and ten days' public notice of such sitting shall be given
by advertisement in at least two of the daily newspapers of said
city.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 9.

AN ACT to repeal sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Chapter 241 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, Session of
1910, entitled "An Act to amend Article 8 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, title 'Cecil
County', and Article 15 of said Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title 'Kent County', by adding additional sec-
tions thereto, requiring all persons dealing in or other-
