1908 of the General Assembly of Maryland and by sections
19 and 20 of Article 42 of the Code of 1904 of the Public Gen-
eral Laws of Maryland, and any amendments, additions and
supplements to the said act and sections; and to accept the
surrender of any minor without proper care or guardianship
into its custody, upon a written surrender signed by its par-
ents, surviving parent or legally constituted guardian.

SEC. 9. And the said society is hereby authorized to con-
duct such other charitable or benevolent work among the parents
of minor children as it may deem advisable for the benefit and
advantage of such minor children; and shall have power to
consolidate with any other charitable or benevolent associations
which have been or shall be organized for the purpose of carry-
ing on, in whole or in part, any kind of charitable or benevo-
lent work of the same or a similar nature; and the provisions of
section 64 of Chapter 240 of the Acts, of 1908 of the General
Assembly of Maryland, known as the "New Corporation Law,"
shall be applicable to such consolidation.

SEC. 10. The affairs and business of the society shall be
managed by twenty managers, or such other number as the mem-
bers of the society shall determine. The managers shall be
chosen annually, at such time and place as shall be designated
for that purpose in the by-laws, and shall serve for one year
and until others are appointed, and shall from their own num-
ber appoint a president, three vice presidents and a treasurer,
who shall serve until their successors are appointed in their
stead. The members of the society shall have power to deter-
mine what number of managers shall constitute a quorum, and
twenty members of the society shall constitute a quorum at all
meetings of the society.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to authorize the payment by the Treasurer of the State
of Maryland of certain sums of money to certain laborers,
material men and other persons who furnished labor or mate-
rials or hold certificates of indebtedness for the furnishing
of labor or materials for the construction of a certain high-
way in Prince George's county, Maryland, to the firm of
