LAWS OF MARYLAND

CHAP. 92.

cending from the canal to the coal-pits; Provided, that

 

the President and Directors, or their agent, shall at all

 

times keep printed cards or hills set up at the most

 

public places on said Rail Road, particularly describ-

 

ing such rate or rates of speed, as may have been fixed

 

or determined on by them; the President and Directors

 

shall also have power to regulate the quantity or weight

 

transported on each car; and also to regulate the size

Dimension of wheels, &c.

and dimensions of the wheels, the length of the axle,

 

and the space or distance between the wheels, of all

 

cars used on said road; Provided, that no change or

 

alteration of the size or dimensions of the wheels, or

 

any part of the cars, used on said road, shall be made

 

by the President and Directors, to take effect until at

 

least six months previous notice shall have been given

 

by the President and Directors, of such proposed change

 

pr alteration.

SEC. 9, And be it enacted, That if any person or

ures

persons shall wilfully, by any means whatsoever, omit

 

or neglect to comply with such regulations as may be

 

determined on by the President and Directors, in con-

 

formity with the power vested in them by the eighth

 

section of this act, such person or persons so offending,

 

shall each of them, for every such offence, forfeit and

 

pay to the said company, a sum not exceeding fifty

 

dollars, which maybe recovered in the name of the said

 

company, before any Justice of the Peace, in and for

 

Allegany county, but the President and Directors may

 

remit any such forfeiture, on such terms as they, or a

 

majority of them, shall deem proper.

Banking forbid

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act

 

or the original act, shall be so construed as to confer

 

banking privileges upon said company.

Appealing clause

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That so much of the ori-

 

ginal act to which this is a supplement, as may be in-

 

consistent with this act, be and the same is hereby
