CHAP. 11

An act for the relief of Allen Elder, of the City of Bal-

timore.

Passed Jan. 15, 1836

Se, it enacted by the General Assembly of Mart/land,

Insolvent laws ex-ded to

That the commissioners of insolvent debtors for the

 

city and county of Baltimore, be and they are hereby

 

authorised and empowered to grant to Alien Elder, the

 

benefit of the, several acts of assembly, passed for the

 

relief of insolvent debtors; provided the said Alien El-

 

der shall in all respects, except that of proving resi-

 

dence, comply with the requisitions of said acts of as-

 

sembly, and that he satisfy the said commissioners that

 

he did not come into this State with the view of obtaining

 

the benefit of said insolvent laws; provided also, that

 

the said Alien Elder be compelled to file his petition

 

for the benefit of the said insolvent law, previous to his

 

discharge from custody.

 

CHAPTER 11.

 

An act for the relief of William Adams, of Somerset

Passed Jan. 19,1830

County.

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

Authority to examine und settle his

That the justices of the Levy Court of Somerset coun-

ty be, and they hereby are authorised and required to

 

examine a claim of William Adams, of Somerset coun-

 

ty, for keeping and supporting in the jail of said coun-

 

ty sundry negroes, by order of the judges of Somerset

 

county court, and for defraying certain funeral expen-

 

ses of one of the said negroes who died in the said jail,

 

and the said justices, if they shall deem the claim just,

 

are hereby required and directed to levy the amount

 

thereof on the assessable property of the said county

 

for the use of the said William, to be collected and

 

paid to the said William or to his order, as other

 

county charges are collected and paid.
