SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That if any constable of

An act in favor of Charles Lee, a free man of Colour,

Passed Feb. 19,1886

in Frederick county.

 

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-

bly, that Charles Lee of Frederick county, a free man

 

of colur, has, from the proceeds of his industry, pur-

 

chased his wife Catherine and his children, Ann,

 

William, Catherine and Cecilia Lee, from the

 

Principal of Mount St. Mary's Col-

 

lege in said county, but owing to the provisions of an

 

act of Assembly passed at December session eighteen

 

hundred and thirty one, chapter 281, he cannot manu-

 

mit the same : — Therefore.

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

On filing manu-mission

That upon the said Charles Lee, filing deeds of manu-

 

mission for his said wife and children, in Frederick

 

county, agreeably to the law in such case made and

 

provided, that the said Catherine Lee, and Ann, Wil-

 

liam, Catherine and Cecilia Lee, be and they are here-

 

by declared free and manumitted, and entitled to all

the privileges and immunities which free persons of

 

colour are entitled to, under the existing laws of this
