CHAP. 67.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That whenever any con-
|

stable shall find it necessary to summon any person on
|
 
|
commitment, he shall be required to summon a consta-
|
 
|
ble if there is one convenient, and whenever a consta-
|
 
|
ble or any other person shall be summoned for the
|
 
|
purpose of so aiding and assisting, he shall be entitled
|
 
|
to fifty cents as a compensation for his services, to be
|
 
|
taxed in the costs against the defendant.

An act to prevent Swine and Geese going at large in
|
 
|
the Village of Piscataway.
|
Seized and impoun-ded
|
SECTION 1. Be it Enacted by the General Assembly
|
 
|
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of this
|
 
|
act, it shall be lawful for any constable of Piscataway,
|
 
|
Prince George's county, to seize and impound any
|
 
|
Geese or Swine he shall find going at large therein,
|
 
|
and it shall be the duty of said constable so seizing
|

and impounding, immediately to set up notices thereof
|
 
|
at the most public places of said Village, for at least
|
 
|
three days, and to insert the marks and descriptions of
|
 
|
such geese or swine in said notices, and if the same are
|
 
|
not reclaime'd within five days after seizing and im-
|

pounding, and the expences of impounding and keep-
|
 
|
ing, to be allowed by a justice of the peace, paid,
|
 
|
together with the sum of fifty cents for every hog, and
|
 
|
twelve and a half cents for every goose, that the same
|

shall be publickly sold by the said constable giving
|
 
|
two days notice, in writing, of the time and place of
|
 
|
such sale, and the proceeds of such sale, shall be first
|

applied to the expense of impounding and keeping

them, and the surplus, one half thereof shall be paid
|
 
|
to the constable for his trouble, and the other half to
|
 
|
be applied under the discretion of any magistrate of
|
 
|
said Village to cleaning and repairing the streets of
|
 
|
said Village.
