CHAP. 61.

A supplement to an act, relating to Run Alley, in the City

Passed Feb. 12,1836

of Baltimore, passed December session, eighteen hun-

 

dred and thirty -four.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Ascertain damages

Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council of Bal-

timore city, shall provide for ascertaining the amount

 

of damages which shall be sustained by any person or

 

persons by opening and widening Run Alley, and for

 

assessing such amount, with the necessary expenses in-

cident to the ascertainment of damages, and opening

 

and widening the said Alley, or any part of such dama-

 

ges and expenses, which they shall deem proper, on the

 

property and owners thereof, that shall be benefitted

 

by opening and widening said Alley.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That every part of the

original act inconsistent with the provisions of this act,

 

be and the same are hereby repealed.

 

CHAPTER, 61.

 

A further supplement to an act, entitled, a supplement to

Passed Feb, 20, 1836

an act relating to Free, Negroes and Slaves.

 

WHEREAS, by the act of eighteen hundred and thirty

three, chapter eighty-seven, to which this is a supple-

 

ment, it is provided that any citizen of this State, who

 

has acquired, or who may hereafter acquire by marri-

 

age or bequest, or in course of distribution, in another

 

State, district or territory, any slave or slaves, being-

 

slaves for life, may bring the same into this State;

 

And whereas, the said act has made no provision for

 

slaves acquired by gift, and it is deemed right and

 

proper that such provision should be made: — Therefore,

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Persons acquiring

Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,

slaves by gitt

it shall be lawful for any citizen of this State, who

 

has acquired or may hereafter acquire by gift, in any

 

State, district or territory, any slave or slaves, being
