called "rich meadows" and thence on the best grounds

CHAP. 59.

to a point on the Deer Park road, near its intersection

 

by a road called Shriver's mill road, in Baltimore

 

county, be and they or a majority of them, are hereby

 

authorised to extend said road of the same width from

 

the point where it now ends on Wm. Jordan's farm,

 

running between said Wm. Jordan and Nicholas Buck-

 

ingham, thence on the most practicable route by Jacob

 

Holmes' blacksmith shop, to the bridge over the Patap-

 

sco falls at Beasman's ford, thence to the Turnpike Road

 

at a house known by the name of the Calico House,

 

now owned by Christian Grove.

Make a plat — re-

SEC. S. And be it enacted, That the said commis-

cord

sioners, or a majority of them shall make a plat of

 

said road, and return the same to the commissioners of

 

Baltimore county, to be recorded in the office of said

 

commissioners, and the said road when opened, shall

 

forever be deemed a public road, and kept in repair,

 

in the same manner as other public roads are directed

 

to be kept up in said county.

Levy on Baltimore

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the commissioners

county for ex-penses

of Baltimore county, be and they are hereby authoris-

 

ed to levy upon the assessable property of said county,

 

the necessary expenses for surveying, laying out, and

 

opening said road, provided the commissioners of said

 

road give upon oath or affirmation as the case may be,

 

the amount of said expenses, including two dollars a

 

day to said commissioners for their services.

Ascertain and pay

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners

damages

of said road or a majority of them shall value the dam-

 

ages, that any person or persons may sustain, through

 

whose land said road may pass, taking into considera-

 

tion, the ad vantages and disadvantages, if any, and the

 

damages so ascertained shall be levied and assessed as

 

other county charges, in said county, are levied and

 

assessed.

Oath required

SEC. 5. And be it enacted. That the said commis-

 

sioners, before they proceed to act, shall take oath or

 

affirmation before some justice of the peace, that they

 

will without favour, partiality or prejudice, assess the

 

damages sustained by the person or persons through

 

whose lands the said road may pass.
