LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 55.

and collector of Somerset county, he and they are hereby-

 

authorised and empowered to collect and receive all and

 

any balance or amount of officers' fees, chancery taxes

 

and fines, forfeitures and county taxes which may be due

 

to the said Dashiell in the same manner and with the same

 

effect, powers and privileges as were allowed by law to

 

said Dashiell, in the same manner and the same effect as

 

if the term of office of the said Dashiell, as sheriff and col-

lector as aforesaid, had not yet expired; Provided, that if

 

any person against whom there is a claim left by said Da-

 

shiell for officers fees, chancery taxes, fines and forfei-

 

tures, or county taxes as aforesaid, shall make affidavit

 

before any justice of the peace of said county, that he or

 

she believes the same to be unjust,or that the same had

 

been paid at any previous time to the person claiming the

 

same it shall forever bar such claim; Provided also, that

 

nothing in this act shall be construed to effect the estate of

only continue in force for one year from its passage.

 

CHAPTER 55.

Passed Feb 28,1836

An act for the relief of Isaac G. Magruder, former Col-

 

lector of the Tax for Prince George's county.

Authority to collect

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

 

That Isaac G. Magruder, the former Collector of the

 

Tax for Prince George's county, be and he is hereby

 

authorised and empowered to collect the taxes for the

 

year eighteen hundred and thirty-three, which remain

 

uncollected, in the same manner as he was authorised

 

to do during the year eighteen hundred and thirty-three;

Account in bar

Provided nevertheless, that if any person or persons,

 

his, her, or their representatives, against whom any

 

such tax may have been rendered, shall make oath be-

 

fore any Justice of the Peace, that the same has been

 

satisfied, that then and in that case, this act shall not'

Limitation

be construed to extend to such cases; And provided also,

 

that the powers conferred by this act, shall not continue

 

in force longer than the first day of January, eighteen

 

hundred and thirty-seven.
