except those of uniform companies, and except also the field and staff officers of the first rifle regiment, to adopt

the uniform prescribed for the officers of the United
|
 
|
States army of corresponding grade and arm of service,
|
 
|
except that for the letters U. S. where used by the offi-
|
 
|
cers of the United States army, there shall be substitu-
|
 
|
ted the letters M. M. to denote Maryland Militia.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the commanding
|
division to be fixed
|
officer of the third division shall between the first and
|
 
|
fifth days of April next, cause the bounds of the bri-
|
 
|
gade districts of that division to be revised and fixed,
|
 
|
and published in general orders agreeably to the tenth
|
 
|
section of the act of eighteen hundred and twenty
|
 
|
three, chapter one hundred and eighty eight, and the
|
 
|
said brigade districts shall be made as equal as may
|
 
|
be in reference to population, and one of said dis-
|
 
|
tricts shall be allotted to the third brigade, and the
|
 
|
other of said districts to the fourteenth brigade, any
|
 
|
thing in the third section of the act of eighteen hun-
|
 
|
dred and twenty three, chapter one hundred and eigh-
|
 
|
ty eight, to the contrary notwithstanding.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That each commanding
|
brigade, regimen-tal districts
|
officer of the third and fourteenth brigades, is hereby
|
 
|
required between the fifth and tenth days of April next,
|
 
|
to cause the bounds of his several regimental districts
|

to be revised and fixed, and to make return of the same
|
 
|
agreeably to the sixteenth section of the act of eigh-
|
 
|
teen hundred and twenty three, chapter one hundred
|
 
|
and eighty eight, and the commanding officer of each
|
 
|
regimental district within said brigades, is hereby re-
|
 
|
quired between the tenth and fifteenth days of April
|

next, to cause the bounds of his several company dis-

|
tricts to be revised and fixed, and to make return of
|
 
|
the same agreeably to the last mentioned section of
|
 
|
the act last aforesaid.
|
 
|
SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That the Governor and
|
 
|
Council shall as soon as practicable after the first day
|

of April next, proceed to fill up any and all vacancies
|
 
|
which may be reported to them by the adjutant general,
|
 
|
among the commissioned officers of the third division,
|
 
|
and the adjutant general is hereby directed to make
|
 
|
said report to the Governor and Council, on or before
|
 
|
the day last aforesaid.
