An act to divorce Sarah A. Hull, of Frederick county,

Passed Mar.29,1836

from her husband John H. Hall.

 

Se it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

Divorce

That from and after the passage of this act, Sarah A.

 

Hall, of Frederick county, be, and she is hereby divor-

 

ced a mensa et thoro, from her husband John H. Hall.

 

CHAPTER 274.

 

An. act for the relief of Josias Hawkins and Margaret

Passed Mar.30, 1836

Clerk Lee, of Charles County.

 

WHEREAS, Josias Hawkins and Margaret Clerk

Preamble

Lee, of Charles county, in this State, having recently

 

become entitled by bequest, or in course of distribution,

 

to certain negro slaves in the State of Virginia, and

 

having inadvertently made an exchange, one'with the

 

other of their respective lots or shares of said slaves,

 

while they were still in the State of Virginia, and fear-

 

ing that the nature of their titles to the slaves now res-

 

pectively owned by them, may be so varied by the ex-

 

change aforesaid, as to deprive them of the privilege

 

of bringing said slaves into this State, under the strict

 

letter of the law of eighteen hundred and thirty-four,

 

have asked to be authorised to introduce said slaves in-

 

to this State, in the same manner as they could have

 

done, had they not made the exchange aforesaid: —

 

Therefore,

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

May bring: slaves into State

That Josias Hawkins and Margaret Clerk Lee, and

 

each or either of them be, and they are hereby fully

 

authorised and empowered to introduce and hold as

 

slaves within this State, any negro slaves which they

 

may have exchanged one with the other, and which they

 

or either of them could lawfully have introduced and

 

held as slaves within this State, previously to any ex-

 

change between them having been made; Provided,

Proviso

they or either of them, who may under the provisions

 

of this act, introduce into this State, any of said ex-
