CHAP. 250.

An act to authorise the Corporation of Annapolis, to sub-

scribe for shares in the Annapolis- and Potomac Ca-

 

nal Company.

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

Authority to sub-

That on the application of the Mayor, Recorder, Al-

scribe

dermen and Common Council, of the City of Annapo-

 

lis, that the said Mayor, Recorder, Aldermen and

 

Common Council and their successors, be, and they

 

are hereby empowered and fully authorized to sub-

 

scribe for, and hold any number, not exceeding two

 

hundred shares, of the capital stock of the Annapolis

 

and Potomac Canal Company, about being organized

 

as to them shall seem proper; and also from time to

Loan authorised

time to borrow money, and to issue certificates of stock

 

as they shall deem advisable, and to levy and collect

Tax authority

taxes on all the real and personal property within the

 

limits and precincts of the said city as taxes are now

 

levied and collected within the limits of the said city.

 

In order with the said loans, certificates of stock and

 

taxes, to secure or pay for the said shares of capital

 

stock, any law of this State or provision of the char-

 

ter of the said city, or the amendments thereto to the

 

contrary thereof notwithstanding.

 

CHAPTER 250.

 

AM act to cure the defective acknowledgement of a deed

Passed Mar. 28,1836

from Henry Roberts and Ann his wife, to Lydia Far-

 

quhar, now Lydia, Hatton.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Deed, &c. made valid

Maryland, That the deed and conveyance from Henry

 

Roberts and Ann Roberts his wife, to Lydia Farquhar,

 

now Lydia Hatton, dated the twenty-sixth day of Sep-

 

tember, eighteen hundred and five, and recorded in

 

Liber W. R., number twenty-eight, folios seventy-five

 

and six, one of the Land Records of Frederick county,

 

is hereby declared to be as valid and operative to all
